Georgian Interior Minister discusses migration with Belgium State-Sec on her 1st Tbilisi visit

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, on Monday met with the State Secretary for Asylum and Migration of the Kingdom of Belgium, Nicole de Moor, in Tbilisi to discuss migration issues, the EU-Georgia visa free agreement on the top of the agenda. 

At the meeting held in the Ministry office, the officials discussed the benefits and problems caused by the visa free deal, which came into play in March 2017. 

Gomelauri briefed the Secretary about the improvements that had been ensured by the Interior Ministry for the “successful implementation and a smooth operation of the agreement”.

For her part, the State Secretary “commended” the Ministry’s work  and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and relevant European Union agencies for the “successful continuation” of the visa free deal. 

The “positive”  collaboration in the law enforcement field between Georgia and the Kingdom of Belgium was also discussed.
