Georgian law enforcers arrest 10 drug traffickers, operation continues

The head of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Teimuraz Kupatadze, on Thursday said more than 10 drug dealers had been arrested across the country. 

 

Speaking to journalists, Kupatadze added drug traffickers had been arrested at four locations, including in the Fonichala district of Tbilisi. 

 

The official noted the special operation was still in progress and the final results would be announced by the end of the day. 

 

Drug dealing is punishable by up to 20 years in prison in Georgia and in some instances suspects face life imprisonment.
