Aleko Elisashvili, a co-founder of the Citizens’ Party who has recently returned from Ukraine where he had fought, has asked in the Georgian state legislature earlier today whether the country has warning systems or the infrastructure where  people could shelter in case of bombardement.

He stated that “no one wishes a war,” but noted that Georgia should be ready if Russia decides to invade.

Elisashvili also said that people, including the women, should be aware of using weapons.

“One of the most soul-stirring things while in Ukraine was the sound of warning systems and running to the shelter. Do we have the systems? Do we have an infrastructure where people will be able to hide to survive during bombardment?” Elisashvili asked.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

Hostilities have been in progress since then.
