Georgian MP Levan Machavariani has sparked controversy with a social media post outlining three possible scenarios for the war in Ukraine and strongly endorsing former US President Donald Trump’s approach to resolving the conflict.

In his post, Machavariani argued that the ongoing war can have only three outcomes: continued fighting, direct US and NATO involvement leading to a potential world war, or a diplomatic resolution. He insisted that the third option—negotiations—is the only viable path but claimed that previous US and European leadership failed to pursue this approach.

“Unfortunately, before Donald Trump became President of the United States, no one cared about the third scenario. Neither the former US administration nor Brussels took any steps toward negotiations and diplomacy over the past three years,” Machavariani wrote.

According to the Georgian lawmaker, Trump’s presidency rules out NATO’s direct involvement in the war and increases the chances of diplomatic efforts. He criticized the previous Biden administration and European leaders for allegedly misleading Ukraine into believing that it could win the war on its own.

Machavariani also took aim at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, condemning his remarks during a meeting with Trump in Washington on February 28. He claimed that Zelenskyy’s comments, which reportedly led to a tense exchange, could jeopardize US involvement in diplomatic efforts.

“All of Ukraine was waiting for this meeting with great hope, but what did its people actually see? That as a result of his mildly undiplomatic comments, the US might refuse to participate in the process altogether?” Machavariani questioned.

Furthermore, he accused European bureaucrats of being under the influence of the so-called ‘Deep State’ and claimed they are not genuinely interested in a diplomatic resolution.

The MP concluded by urging Zelenskyy to distance himself from Brussels’ influence and recognize Trump as the only leader capable of ending the war.
