Georgian NCDC head: Covid kills more in Georgia than other diseases

Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze says that in the past one week Covid-19 killed more people in Georgia and worldwide than cardiovascular diseases, ischemic diseases, stroke and tumors.
Coronavirus deaths have hit daily 50-60 in the past two weeks, while since the country confirmed its first case of coronavirus in February 2020, 6,891 individuals have died from the virus in Georgia.
Georgian health officials admit that coronavirus deaths in Georgia are really high and call on people to receive the vaccine and observe general guidelines.
Georgia has reported 5,924 new cases of coronavirus, 4,777 recoveries and 60 deaths in the past 24 hours.
57,840 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today.
More than 7,000 of the 57,840 individuals are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
The government has opened three field hospitals in Tbilisi. However, there is a shortage in medical personnel and resident doctors may be invited to work there.
