Well-known Georgian opera singer, Paata Burchuladze, has asked the Georgian Dream government to allow him to replace the arrested former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, in Rustavi Prison No.12, where he has been on hunger strike for 36 days.

Burchuladze says in his recent post on social media, that Saakashvili’s life is at risk in prison and accuses the Georgian Dream of ‘breaking the law in every direction.’

“You (Georgian Dream) fabricate elections, arrest innocent people, take them to a biased court.

I ask you to once again break the law and allow me to replace Saakashvili in prison,” Burchuladze said.

Burchuladze entered Georgian politics back in 2016 and even participated in the 2016 parliamentary elections.  However, he left politics shortly after the failure in the race.
