Anna Dolidze, leader of the For the People Party, has intensified calls for a parliamentary investigation into Georgia’s prison system, amidst ongoing hunger strikes at Kutaisi and Rustavi facilities.

Dolidze emphasized the urgency of addressing issues within the prison system, urging Parliament to establish an investigative commission to scrutinize conditions and the health of inmates.

“We urgently need a comprehensive investigation into what is happening in our prisons,” said Dolidze. “I have long advocated for Parliament to form a commission to examine all aspects of prison life and provide definitive answers.”

The hunger strikes, sparked by protests against an upcoming amnesty plan excluding certain charges, underscore broader concerns over prisoner welfare and the implementation of humanitarian measures.
