Unfounded allegations coming from Kyiv towards Georgia which are backed by “no evidence” affect the state institutions of Ukraine first of all which particularly matters during a war, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said on Tuesday.
Over the past several weeks the Ukrainian intelligence raised two accusations towards Georgia, one over Tbilisi’s aid to Russian smugglers and another, last week, on Moscow’s alleged negotiations with Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan to re-export its products to foreign markets via up to 200 companies registered in the three countries recently.
Papuashvili said that “even the Georgian opposition no longer takes the allegations seriously.”
“I do not know how the Ukrainian intelligence works, but I know one thing – when you make such a serious accusation against a friend who stands by you politically and humanitarianly, and you blame a friend who has been involved in three wars with Russia, you should present at least one piece of evidence,” Papuashvili stated.
He said that Ukraine has failed to back their accusations in all cases.
Papuashvili headed the country’s parliamentary delegation to Ukraine last month where he expressed solidarity with the war-torn country.
