Georgian Parliament Speaker vows “easiest” general elections

Shalva Papuashvili, the Georgian Parliament Speaker, claimed on Monday that the country’s population would experience the “easiest” general elections on October 26. He stated that voters would have a clear choice between the ruling party, which he credited with saving the country from war, and the opposition, which he referred to as “collective traitors.”

 

According to Papuashvili, the opposition has revealed its true nature by not conducting an election campaign within Georgia. “The opposition has already shown its face, fully exposing their political stance as executors of foreign powers’ orders. They have no connection with the Georgian people; their names may be Georgian, but nothing else,” Papuashvili said.

 

He added that the elections presented a unique opportunity for the Georgian people to choose the Georgian Dream, the ruling party he claims has protected the country’s interests and avoided war and economic collapse.

 

Meanwhile, the opposition accuses the Georgian Dream of aligning with Russian interests and using conspiracy theories to derail the country from its Euro-Atlantic integration.
