Georgian Patriarch Ilia II has requested the parishioners to pray for peace in Ukraine today, at 12:00.

“I ask the parishioners of our church, living in Georgia and abroad, to offer the prayer ‘Open unto us the doors of mercy’ to the All-Holy Mother of God, for peace in Ukraine and in the entire world. It will be a prayer offered together tomorrow, March 17, at 12 o’clock,” the Patriarch press office tweeted yesterday.

The Georgian Patriarchate has recently sent 15 tons of humanitarian aid to the war-torn Ukraine.

In previous days, Ilia II blessed those who have contributed to the execution of civilians from Ukraine, amid hostilities in the country.

On the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine the Patriarch said that “the hostilities in Ukraine must be stopped as soon as possible; otherwise, they will develop into a world tragedy!”

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
