Georgian PM designate presents his Cabinet in parliament

The ruling Georgian Dream party candidate for the prime minister’s post, Irakli Kobakhidze, on Friday unveiled the proposed composition of his Cabinet at the Parliament Bureau session.

The only change in the government’s lineup concerns the Ministry of Defence, where Juansher Burchuladze will be succeeded by Irakli Chikovani, the GD MP, while the outgoing minister is expected to assume the post of the country’s ambassador to NATO. 

The proposed government lineup is as follows:

 

Minister of Culture and Sports: Thea Tsulukiani

 

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development: Levan Davitashvili

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs: Ilia Darchiashvili

 

Minister of Finance: Lasha Khutsishvili

 

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure: Irakli Karseladze

 

Minister of Justice: Rati Bregadze

 

Minister of Internal Affairs: Vakhtang Gomelauri

 

Minister of Defence: Irakli Chikovani

 

Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture: Otar Shamugia

 

Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs: Giorgi Amilakhvari

 

Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health, and Social Protection: Zurab Azarashvili

 

State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality: Thea AkhvledianiKobakhidze also introduced the government programme titled “For the Construction of the European State” to the parliament.

 

Kobakhidze, the incumbent chair of the GD and the former Parliament Speaker, was on Thursday nominated for the post, while outgoing PM Irakli Kobnakhidze assumed the post of the party’s chairman.
