Georgian PM discusses cooperation, plans with Estonian, Hungarian ambassadors

Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, on Thursday discussed ties and cooperation plans with Estonian and Hungarian ambassadors.In a meeting with Riina Kaljurand, Ambassador of Estonia to Georgia, the leaders delved into the longstanding relations between the two countries. Discussions encompassed prospects for deeper partnerships, particularly focusing on enhancing economic and investment cooperation. Ambassador Kaljurand reaffirmed Estonia’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the government press office said.

Subsequently, Kobakhidze met with Anna Maria Siko, Ambassador of Hungary to Georgia. Expressing gratitude for Hungary’s “active support” on the international stage, the Prime Minister acknowledged the “pivotal role” played by Hungary in Georgia’s recent milestone achievement: the grant of EU Candidate Country status. 

Emphasizing the significance of Hungary’s ongoing support, especially during Georgia’s forthcoming negotiations for EU accession, the Prime Minister highlighted the “crucial role” Hungary’s upcoming EU Presidency will play in this process.

Furthermore, discussions underscored the opportunities for further intensification of sectoral linkages between Georgia and Hungary. Cooperation across diverse fields including trade, economics, energy, education, and culture was emphasized as pivotal for maximizing the existing potential for mutual benefit.
