Georgian PM discusses his Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative at a meeting with Armenian President in Tbilisi

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili met with Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of Armenia on Tuesday at the Administration Building of the Government of Georgia, where, along with other issues, the officials discussed the peace initiative offered by Garibashvili last year. 

 

“The meeting was  focused on the discussion of bilateral cooperation and kind neighborly relations existing between Armenia and Georgia,” said the Government’s press office. 

 

The press office stated that the meeting mainly concerned global and regional security issues, including the Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative for the South Caucasus launched by Garibashvili “which aims to create a format of dialogue between the three countries [Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan] along with mutually beneficial cooperation.” 

 

“It was noted that Georgia has always been a supporter of peaceful cooperation and coexistence in the South Caucasus and stands ready to promote the regional dialogue. The President of Armenia expressed his gratitude to Garibashvili for the contribution made to the process of peaceful dialogue.”  

 

The parties stressed that the trade turnover between the countries has  reached $170.49 million in the first quarter of 2022, which was a 12% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. 

 

The officials stated that the countries’ had potential to further increase trade  turnover.
