Georgian PM discusses security, strategic ties with US National Security Advisor

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Wednesday tweeted he had discussed ongoing security challenges and strategic ties with Jake Sullivan, the US National Security Advisor, in a meeting on the sidelines of UNGA 78th session in New York. 

 

The same day the PM met with Estonian and Czech Presidents, discussing bilateral cooperation, prospects for further strengthening of ties and his country’s European integration goals ahead of the European Union’s forthcoming decision later this year whether to grant Tbilisi its candidacy, the Government press office said. 

 

Garibashvili claimed his country “deserved” the status, adding obtaining the bloc’s candidacy would further contribute to the country’s development. 

 

The PM has been scheduled to address the UNGA session at the end of the working week.
