Georgian PM discusses ties, security challenges with Armenian parliament speaker

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday met with Alen Simonyan, President of the National Assembly of Armenia, with the sides discussing ties and security challenges in the region, the government administration said.
“Emphasis was placed on the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, also underlining that the timely de-escalation of the situation and the resumption of dialogue to solve outstanding issues serve the common interests of all sides. It was noted that the peaceful neighborhood initiative proposed by Georgia may serve as a solid foundation in this regard, so that the sides may restore confidence in one another”, said the government press office.
The meeting at the Government Administration was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia, Ashot Smbatyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Eduard Aghajanyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, Sisak Gabrielyan, and the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of Armenia, Tigran Seyranyan, also by the Head of the Government Administration, Revaz Javelidze, and the Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia, Irakli Kvanchakhadze, representing the Georgian side.
