Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday hailed the work of the country’s diplomatic missions on professional day, saying their efforts were “crucial” for the country’s reintegration, EU accession and ensuring domestic peace and development.
“Diplomacy is the art of dialogue, negotiations, cooperation, strengthening of peace and, thus, it is the most important tool in the face of the challenges that our country and the world are facing today. To achieve the main goals of our state and people – the unification of Georgia, to achieve full integration into the family of free European nations, to ensure peace and development, your role as diplomats is key”, Garibashvili said in his message.
Darchiashvili noted the diplomats’ role was “particularly important” ahead of the European Union’s decision later this year whether to grant the country its membership candidate status, which he said would make Georgia’s European future “irreversible”.
