Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday said Turkey is a “regional and global player” at the reception dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey in Tbilisi, also commending the country’s efforts to ensure “peace” in the South Caucasus region.

The PM also praised “unique” bilateral ties, and highlighted the importance of the two countries in connecting Europe with Asia.

Describing Turkey as Georgia’s one of the main trade partners, the PM said the trade turnover had hit two billion dollars in the first eight months of this year, while foreign direct investments had reached almost $370 million in the last three years.

He added  the number of Turkish companies in Georgia exceeded 10,000, and stressed the importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines, as well as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
