Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who arrived in Kazakhstan on Tuesday, held several meetings with local top officials on Wednesday, with the Georgian delegation signing several new agreements to intensify bilateral ties.

Existing relations between Georgia and Kazakhstan and the prospects of future cooperation were discussed at a meeting with Kazakh PM Alikhan Smailov.

“Great meeting with Alikhan Smailov. Discussed existing bilateral partnership and possibilities for further enhancement of our cooperation in bilateral and  multilateral formats. Georgia’s growing role as a gateway can be further explored for the countries of Central Asia”, Garibashvili tweeted.

Further enhancement of cooperation in transport, logistics, trade and tourism was discussed at Garibashvili’s meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

While in Nursultan, Georgian and Kazakh officials signed several agreements aimed at further deepening economic relations, said the Government of Georgia press office.
