Ending the war in Ukraine should be in everyone’s interest. There is no alternative to peace. We should all do our best to stop this war, to restore peace and stability, Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili said during a joint press conference with the Chancellor of Austria on Friday.
He stated that the war was an “international challenge.”
Garibashvili said despite the complications caused by the war in various directions, including in the economy, Georgia maintained a “very strong economic growth.”
“ We have double-digit economic growth. We maintain political and economic stability in the country. In terms of security, we have a challenge related to occupation. A large part of our territory is occupied. Situation is dire on the ground. However, Georgia is progressing,” Garibashvili said.
Speaking about the country’s EU prospects, Garibashvili said that Georgia shared common European values and the government’s main motivation was the country to become an EU member.
He stated that granting Georgia a European perspective last month by the European Council was the “recognition of the progress achieved over the years, and we appreciate it very much.”
