Georgian MP Irakli Garibashvili met with the European Council President Charles Michel in Brussels on Tuesday, several days after Georgia submitted its answers to the EU membership questionnaire to gain the EU candidate country status.
“Pleasure to meet with Charles Michel,a great friend of Georgia in Brussels. Full integration with the EU is top priority for our Government and the submission of the EU Candidacy Questionnaire is yet another major benchmark on this path,” Garibashvili wrote on Twitter following the meeting.
Michel said that “the EU’s full support to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” was discussed with Garibashvili.
“The EU is committed to further strengthen our partnership with Georgia. Stressed that reforms on the democratization process and the rule of law are needed more than ever,” Kichel tweeted.
The answers to the questionnaire composed seven volumes as there were more than 2,800 questions, Garinashvili said on May 10, when he handed the completed questionnaire to EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell.
Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova applied for EU membership earlier than scheduled back in February and March of this year subsequently due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The EU is expected to present its report over the questionnaires next month.
