The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili on Wednesday met with the newly appointed  French Ambassador to Georgia Sheraz Gasri.

The discussion at the introductory meeting has touched upon the existing relations between the two countries and the prospects of future cooperation, said the government press office.

The PM described France as a “ friend and reliable partner of Georgia” and thanked the French ambassador for her government’s “strong support” for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as for the policy of non-recognition of currently Russian-controlled regions.

The importance of France’s support for Georgia’s integration into the European Union and NATO was also  emphasized at the meeting.

Garibashvili pledged his country would continue to support European values and play a “constructive role” in supporting peace and stability in the region.
