Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has met with his Slovenian counterpart, Janez Jansa, and president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, on the sidelines of the 26TH United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).

The conference is being held on November 1-2 in Glasgow.

At the meeting with Jansa, Garibashvili praised friendly relations between Georgia and Slovenia and expressed hope that Georgia-EU relations will further deepen under the Slovenian presidency of the Council of the EU this year.

He also thanked Slovenia for ensuring support for Georgia’s NATO integration.

Odile Renaud-Basso told Garibashvili that political stability is important in the country after the recent municipal elections.

Renaud-Basso said that EBRD has allocated up to four billion euros in financial aid for Georgia so far, for more than 250 projects, and vowed that `fruitful cooperation with Georgia will continue.’

Garibashvili left for the UK with FM David Zalkaliani and Head of Administration of the Government of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili.

Garibashvili will address fellow world leaders participating in the summit later today and focus on the significance of joint efforts to be deployed for coping with threats stemming from climate change.

Climate Change Conference (COP26), which began on October 31, will end on November 12.

Within the scope of the world leader summit, heads of states and governments, as well as experts and subject-matter professionals will discuss ways of intensifying and coordinating actions to achieve goals of the Paris Treaty and UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Almost 120 world leaders are participating in the summit this year.
