Georgian PM meets UFC champion Ilia Topuria, advocates for dual citizenship

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held a meeting with UFC Champion Ilia Topuria on Tuesday, extending warm congratulations on his recent victory. 

 

Kobakhidze highlighted the significance of Topuria’s achievement, expressing pride on behalf of Georgia and its people. During the discussion, the Prime Minister inquired about Topuria’s future plans and offered his best wishes for continued success.

 

In their exchange, Kobakhidze stressed the importance of maintaining Georgian citizenship alongside Topuria’s recent acquisition of Spanish citizenship. He assured the champion of his commitment to advocate with the Justice Ministry and the President to ensure that all necessary measures were taken to preserve Topuria’s Georgian citizenship.

 

Invited by the Prime Minister, the UFC champion will be attending the Georgia-Luxembourg football match on March 21, where he will showcase his championship belt, the Government press office said.
