Georgian PM pledges paid internships for graduates

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, announced on Monday that nearly 3,000 graduates would receive a four-month paid internship in state agencies this year. 

Speaking at the weekly Government session, Kobakhidze noted last year, the parliament passed a law on providing university graduates with paid internships, emphasizing the need for “effective enforcement”. He claimed the process would start this year as a pilot project.

Kobakhidze also commented that graduates would be given the opportunity to undergo paid internships in municipal and private structures and instructed Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Minister of Education, to present a “detailed action plan” on the matter in coordination with Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
