Georgian PM praises China, its role, “inspiring achievements”, recently signed strategic deal at country’s 74th anniversary

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has praised China for its “rich history, culture and inspiring achievements” in his speech at the official reception hosted in Tbilisi, dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, claiming a strategic agreement signed with Beijing in the summer would ensure “mutual benefits”. 

 

In his address Garibashvili also commended the Belt and Road initiative and claimed his Government was committed to promote the intention through the Middle Corridor route. 

 

He also pledged  commitment to One China principle and claimed Beijing’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity was “firm”. 

 

Garibashvili also highlighted a Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and China, which entered into force in January 2018, had played a “crucial role in ensuring greater trade between our countries, which has reached $2 billion annually since its signing”.
