Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday praised Italy as a “reliable partner” during a meeting with Massimiliano D’Antuono, the new Italian Ambassador to Georgia.
The discussions in Tbilisi at the Government office underscored the importance of “common European values” and acknowledged Italy’s role as an “important supporter” in Georgia’s recent attainment of the European Union membership candidate status.
The PM also expressed gratitude to the Italian authorities for their “unwavering support” of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In addition to diplomatic matters, the officials emphasized the need to further strengthen ties between the two nations, particularly in the realms of economic and trade relations. The ongoing collaboration between Georgia and Italy in defence, education, and culture was also a focal point of the exchange, the Government press office said.
