Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, on Monday highlighted the “exceptional philanthropy” of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and the honorary chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, during  Cabinet meeting, emphasising its “significant impact” on preserving Georgia’s cultural identity.

He noted Ivanishvili’s recent acquisition and donation of a unique manuscript by John Zosimos to the National Museum as a “remarkable example” of his ongoing charitable efforts.

Ivanishvili last week purchased the manuscript from the Schøyen Collection to donate it to the Georgian National Museum. Kobakhidze expressed his gratitude, stating, “this manuscript, dating back to 979, is a significant acquisition for our country. It stands as another extraordinary testament to Ivanishvili’s unparalleled philanthropy” and added “Ivanishvili’s long-term engagement in philanthropy has made a special contribution to the protection and preservation of our cultural heritage”.
