Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and President Salome Zourabichvili wished Ukraine peace in their Independence Day messages on  Wednesday.

“Happy Independence Day to Ukraine! We wish peace and  prosperity to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in these difficult times of war”, Garibashvili tweeted.

In her message, Zourabichvili stated that “we must stand together in defense of the values that unite us”.

“I remain strongly convinced that this anachronistic war will end soon and that Ukraine, standing on the right side of history, will emerge victorious”, Zourabichvili said.

Russia invaded Ukraine in February of this year.

Hostilities have been in progress since then.
