Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, on Friday said he had expressed his disappointment with Derek Chollet, an American foreign policy advisor, regarding two revolutionary attempts allegedly supported by the former US ambassador Kelly Degnan. The Prime Minister of Georgia shared his thoughts on this matter via social media.

Kobakhidze highlighted that had those attempts succeeded, Georgia would currently be facing a second front of unrest.

Moreover, he pointed out to Chollet that the “misleading statements” from State Department representatives concerning the controversial foreign transparency bill and certain actions echoed the “false claims” made by the former diplomat during 2020-23. He said the statements were perceived as instigating violence among entities funded from abroad and supporting revolutionary movements.

Furthermore, Kobakhidze emphasized to Chollet that rebuilding relations under such circumstances necessitated “exceptional efforts”, which could not be achieved without a “fair and transparent approach”.
