Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday left for Azerbaijan on the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev, the Government press office said.

The PM has been scheduled to attend the economic forum of SPECA – the UN Special Program for the Economy of Central Asia –  in Baku later on Friday as an honored guest. The forum related to SPECA’s 25th anniversary is being held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan this year, the press office noted.

“The PM will make a speech at the forum. He will also meet with Aliyev”, the Government Administration said.

After a seven-year hiatus, Aliyev visited Georgia in October 2022 and said the strategic relationship between the two countries was at the level of alliance, and hailed cooperation both in international and bilateral formats.

Garibashvili visited Azerbaijan on April 7 and met Aliyev. Later, on October 8, the President of Azerbaijan visited Georgia.
