The employees of the Department of Combating Trafficking and Illegal Migration within the Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department, Ministry of Internal Affairs, have uncovered a criminal trafficking scheme involving minors. Two individuals have been apprehended, and charges have been filed against one of them, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
As per the Ministry of Internal Affairs, NA, born in 1989, stands accused of trafficking in minors, while O. Ch., born in 1981, has been arrested for failing to report the crime. The offense carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years of imprisonment.
The investigation revealed that N.A. devised a scheme for trafficking minors. To execute this plan and subject minors to forced labor exploitation, he coerced his own underage son to beg for alms in various districts of Tbilisi, using psychological pressure. N.A. intended to fully control and benefit from the money acquired through this illicit activity.
Furthermore, the investigation found that O. Ch., with a previous criminal record, and BB, currently in custody, were aware of the crimes committed by N.A. against his minor son.
