Georgian president Salome Zourabichvili on Tuesday condemned Russia’s attack on Kakhovka HPP dam in its occupied territory of Ukraine, saying the “horrible attack” on the civilian infrastructure “once again shows Russia’s brutal tactics”.
“These war crimes must be answered by justice. All of Georgia stands with Ukraine”, Zourabichvili tweeted.
The Kherson District Military Administration claimed early on Tuesday Russian troops blew up the hydroelectric dam near the town of Kakhovka, prompting the district police and emergency services to evacuate citizens from settlements located on the right bank of the Dnieper River in a potential flood zone. This zone includes 10 villages and a part of the city of Kherson.
The city of Kakhovka in Kherson District is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River, which is currently occupied by Russia. The right bank of the Dnieper, including the city of Kherson, is under the control of the Ukrainian authorities.
