Georgian President congratulates Liz Truss on electing a new UK PM

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday congratulated Liz Truss on the election of the new Prime Minister of the UK. 

 

“Congratulations to Liz Truss,  next PM of the United Kingdom. Good to see another woman leader in these crucial times that will work for security on our continent and a stronger transatlantic partnership.I look forward to working together to strengthen the  UK-Georgia relations”, Zourabichvili tweeted. 

 

Truss on Monday was elected as Britain’s new Prime Minister, defeating Rishi Sunak. 

 

She has also been named as the leader of the governing Conservative Party.

 

She will succeed Boris Johnson, who was forced to resign in July after months of scandal.
