Georgian president congratulates Macron on winning elections

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has congratulated Emmanuel Macron on winning French elections. 

“Congratulations Emmanuel Macron. With you, France won! Europe wins! And we win, we Georgians, Ukrainians who need a strong Europe, worthy that Russia would be obliged to respect and would not be able to buy or crush,” Zourabichvili, who was born in France has tweeted in French. 

Modovan President Maia Sandu also tweeted that “In these difficult times, strong leadership is essential for Europe.” 

“France is our strong and reliable partner, and we look forward to continuing to build together democracy at home and peace in Europe,” Sandu said. 

According to exit polls,  incumbent Macron has won  the second round of  presidential election with 58% of the vote.
