Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili and the country’s foreign office on Thursday congratulated Ukraine on its Independence Day.

In her video message, Zourabichvili stressed the people of Georgia stood by Ukraine and wished to celebrate the day with them, praising the country’s “brave fight” for its sovereignty and territorial integrity since February 2022, when Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“We will be together on your victory day. Happy Independence Day”, said the President.

In its social media post, the Georgian foreign office reaffirmed Tbilisi’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Georgia stands in solidarity with Ukraine and remains a committed supporter of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Georgia  wishes peace and prosperity to the people of Ukraine”, said the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
