Georgian president Salome Zourabichvili will address the European Parliament on May 31, her office said on Thursday.

“In connection with this, the president of Georgia received an official letter from the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, today”, it said.

The address was initially scheduled for April 18 in a bid to promote the country’s European aspirations ahead of the European Union decision later this year whether to grant Georgia its membership candidate status.

However, the president’s office claimed the address had been postponed due to the government’s delayed reaction to the visit, with the latter rejecting the claims.
