The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, is scheduled to make an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan on April 15-16, his press office announced on Friday.
Ahead of the visit, President Kavelashvili held an introductory meeting in Tbilisi with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Georgia, Faig Guliyev. During the talks, both sides reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship and discussed ways to further enhance the strategic partnership between the two neighbouring countries, the press office said.
“The parties positively assessed the close friendly relations between the countries and discussed the main directions of the Georgian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership,” the statement read.
Regional stability featured prominently in the discussions. President Kavelashvili underscored the growing significance of peace and stability amid global geopolitical tensions, trade disputes, and ongoing conflicts.
“In today’s climate of geopolitical uncertainty and economic strain, ensuring a stable and peaceful regional environment is more important than ever,” he said.
Both parties expressed a shared commitment to deepening cooperation across key sectors and making their partnership more dynamic.
President Kavelashvili also extended his gratitude to Azerbaijan for its steadfast support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
