Mamuka Mdinaradze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party in the state legislature, on Tuesday said the Georgian United National Movement opposition “is single ” in the civilized world encouraging Georgian citizens to fight as volunteers in Ukraine.

He said all foreign states, including those ensuring military aid for Ukraine in the war against Russia, “refrain from pushing volunteers” to go to Ukraine to participate in hostilities.

The MP claimed that by such actions, the “radical wing” of the opposition “aims to damage the interests of the current government and the state on the one hand, and on the other hand drag Georgia in the war”.

Mdinaradze stressed the opposition was sending  “fake condolences” over the killed Georgian volunteers in Ukraine and “used” their names for their “own, political goals”.

Thirty three Georgian volunteers have been killed in Ukraine since the outbreak of hostilities on February 24, with the first one  killed on March 18.
