Levan Karumidze, the first Deputy Chairman of European Integration Committee in the Georgian state legislature, on Tuesday slammed the Council of Europe for inviting former Georgian official, currently wanted Zurab Adeishvili, at its recent event.

“To put it mildly, hosting a convicted felon and an infamous sadist in the institution that serves as the guarantor of human rights and the rule of law is unbecoming. Adeishvili must answer for his own crimes before he can investigate the crimes of others”, Karumidze tweeted.

The Council of Europe said that a meeting has been held on the topic of Russian military aggression in Ukraine, which was attended by the former Prosecutor General of Georgia and former Minister of Justice under the United National Movement authorities, Adeishvilu, who has been on the run since 2012, after the current Georgian Dream authorities came to office.

The former official, who currently holds Ukrainian citizenship, has been convicted for several crimes by Georgian courts in absentia for abuse of authority and other offenses.
