The Georgian State Security service says that hundreds of Russian and Belarus citizens who have entered Georgia over recent days ‘pose no threats’ to the state security, responding to the dissatisfaction in the public over the influx.
A big number of Georgians are demanding the government to allow only Ukrainian refugees into the country or only the Russian and Belarus citizens who are persecuted by their governments.
The State Security Service says that the ‘public is threatened’ (by some groups) that the Russian and Belarus citizens could have terrirism and other anti-state goals.
“No such trends have been detected,” said the agency.
The Georgian officials have stated that more than 25,000 Russian citizens have entered Georgia over the past several days, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
