Georgian top cleric, archpriest of Bodb Iakob has responded to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and stated that Georgia should make a choice and stand by the side of the truth, ‘where the people loving freedom are standing.’

He said ‘it is better to die free than live in slavery.’

Iakon said that what is going on in Ukraine now is not about  NATO or the EU.

“If I am free I should have a free choice. It does not concern neither NATO nor the EU. Somebody dislikes that someone does not want to be a slave,” Iakob said.

He stated that the whole world faces a threat (from Russia).

“What have we done in 2008? They (Russians) killed us, occupied our lands. Have they done something good on the territories?,” Iakob said.

He stated that Georgians should not be afraid and should be ready for any scenario.
