Georgian newly appointed Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba have had a short exchange in Brussels earlier today, during the NATO ministerial, agreeing to keep in close touch.

“At the NATO ministerial meeting I had an opportunity to have a short exchange with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. Agreed to continue close communication and I reiterated Georgia’s support to Ukraine,” Darchiashvili tweeted, who occupied the post earlier this week.

Shortly after Darchiashvili’s appointment, Kuleba tweeted that “looking forward to working together with Ilia Darchiashvili to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Georgia. Counting on Georgia’s full support in countering Russian aggression.”

Darchiashvili thanked Kuleba and said that “ I am  confident, our fruitful cooperation will further strengthen friendship between Georgian and Ukrainian  people in achieving common successes and overcoming challenges. Our strong support and solidarity with the Ukrainian  people in the struggle for their country and values we share.”

While in Brussels Darchiashvili also met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, stating that “his (Stoltenberg’s)  personal support for Georgia’’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration is much appreciated. Looking forward to strengthening bonds between Georgia and the Alliance.”
