Georgia's Prosecutor’s Office announces staff changes

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has released an official statement detailing several key personnel changes within the institution.
Zurab Beltadze has been appointed Assistant to the Prosecutor General. According to the statement, Beltadze brings nine years of experience working in various roles within the Prosecutor’s Office and extensive background as a defense attorney. Notably, he represented several defendants involved in the 2016 “Kortskheli incident,” where members of the ruling party allegedly attacked opposition politicians, and has also defended public officials accused of domestic violence and misconduct.
Giorgi Gvarakidze has been appointed as the new Tbilisi Prosecutor. He previously served as Deputy Head of the Department for the Investigation of Special Cases at the Special Investigation Service and has held several positions within the Prosecutor’s Office.
Former Tbilisi Prosecutor Levan Gegechkori has been reassigned. He will now lead investigative and search operations across various state institutions, including the State Security Service, Special State Protection Service, Intelligence Service, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Border Police of Georgia.
Additionally, Malkhaz Kapanadze, who previously led the department now handed over to Gegechkori, has been appointed Head of the Department of Procedural Supervision of Investigations at the Special Investigation Service.
