German Ambassador pledges support for Georgia’s EU candidacy

German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer on Wednesday declared unequivocal support for Georgia’s bid for European Union candidacy as the European Council prepares for the decision next weekend. 

 

Fischer affirmed that Germany’s response will be a firm “yes,” signaling a crucial step forward in Georgia’s pursuit of EU integration.

 

Fischer’s reassurance comes on the heels of the European Commission’s positive recommendation to the Council on November 8, raising expectations for a positive outcome. 

 

While acknowledging the complexity and involvement of many countries in the decision-making process, he reiterated Germany’s unwavering support, firmly stating, “It will be ‘yes.'”
