German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is scheduled to visit Ukraine and Russia this week to ease tension as more that 100,000 Russian troops are assembled at the Ukrainian border.

The US and Germany have already called on their citizens to leave the country. Ahead of his first visits to Kyiv today and Moscow on Tuesday, Scholz has once again warned Russia.

“It is our job to ensure that we prevent a war in Europe, in that we send a clear message to Russia that any military aggression would have consequences that would be very high for it and its prospects, and that we are united with our allies,” Scholz stated.

Meanwhile the Ukrainian president has also invited the US President Joe Biden to pay a visit to Kyiv.

Russia is demanding NATO to never add Georgia and Ukraine as new members and also raised other ‘security guarantees’  the by the US and NATO.
