Germany’s Foreign Ministry has recalled its Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations.

The Ministry said the decision followed “months of agitation” by Georgia’s leadership against the European Union, Germany and Ambassador Fischer personally.

“In light of this, Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has decided to recall Ambassador Fischer for consultations to discuss how to proceed with our work. Tomorrow, the EU Foreign Affairs Council will address the situation in Georgia,” the statement reads.
