Germany, together with European partners, will take responsibility for providing security guarantees to Ukraine, German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil said during his visit to Kyiv.

“It is important to have security guarantees that ensure Ukraine will no longer be attacked and that Putin will not dare to launch another assault,” Klingbeil said.

He added no decisions should be made without Ukrainians and that any negotiation process should begin with a ceasefire.

“Now the ball is in Putin’s court. I believe there is a long road ahead, but I do not see Putin changing his mind and genuinely engaging in peace talks,” he added.
