Giga Bedineishvili: Ivanishvili awaits US policy direction, faces uncertainty over sanctions

Financier Giga Bedineishvili has suggested that billionaire and former Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili is navigating a challenging geopolitical landscape as he seeks to safeguard his assets. Speaking about Ivanishvili’s ongoing efforts, Bedineishvili noted that the businessman is closely observing the policy trajectory of the new US administration before making any decisive moves.

“Ivanishvili is trying to preserve his property. Ultimately, I think he is trying to have some kind of agreement and save his property, but he is waiting for the right moment,” Bedineishvili said.

He further emphasized that Ivanishvili will never be fully shielded from the potential impact of American sanctions. “Sanctions themselves no longer have the ability to change behavior; the threat of sanctions has the ability to change behavior,” he remarked.
