Giorgi Baramidze, Political Secretary of the United National Movement opposition party, on Wednesday called the recent report by the parliament’s investigation commission on the actions of the previous UNM Government a “treason document aligned with Russian interests”.

"The document of the treason commission, which accuses Georgia and acquits Russia, is yet another confirmation that the regime is in the service of [Vladimir] Putin, but the Georgian people, with their unity and peaceful protest, will send the regime to the dustbin of history and return Georgia to the path of European development," Baramidze pledged.

He further claimed “we knew that the task of this treason commission was to vindicate Georgia's enemy, the aggressor Russia, and to convict Georgia, to rewrite the decisions of the Hague and Strasbourg courts in Putin's favor, convicting the Georgian government, the president, the supreme commander-in-chief, the government and our state. Its goal was to wash Putin's hands of it and free him to act against Georgia, because this is important for Putin”.

The opposition figure further noted that the GD authorities were taking actions to cut the country’s ties off the west.

“This will never happen, the Georgian people will never share this, so I am deeply convinced that the protests will continue, the Georgian people will gather in Tbilisi and in various cities on September 13, September 27 and of course, October 4, when the traitorous regime has planned its next special operation to somehow increase their legitimacy at least a little bit, and all patriots will be on the streets and will refuse this traitorous regime, and we will be able to peacefully overthrow this regime”, Baramidze added.
