The United National Movement (UNM) is not participating in a “Russian special operation,” and citizens should instead gather on Rustaveli Avenue on October 4, regional secretary Giorgi Botkoveli said on Saturday during a visit to Marneuli.
“It is important for everyone to know that we are not entering into this Russian special operation. We call on society to come to Rustaveli Avenue at 4 p.m. on October 4 instead of voting,” Botkoveli stated.
He accused the Government of attempting to mislead members of the Azerbaijani community by suggesting that UNM is still participating in the elections under number 5.
“The regime systematically oppresses people, arrests them on political grounds, and now we see manipulations aimed at deceiving the Azerbaijani community in Marneuli. They are falsely told that number 5 still belongs to UNM, which is not true. We are not part of this farce. That is why it is crucial that on October 4 we all stand on the country’s main avenue, in front of parliament, alongside thousands of people from Marneuli and across Georgia,” Botkoveli said.
